McDowells believe that a fundamental cause of diseases like cancer is a collapse of the immune response. We understand the place for Radiotherapy (in Canine Cancer) is to directly attack rapidly growing cancer cells using beams of radiation. Radiation as we know damages tissue and the hope of radiotherapy is that it will damage fast growing cancer cells more quickly than normal cells. There are some cancers which are ideally suited to Radio therapy given in a careful finite program.

We also recognise (and clients report) that radiotherapy can put a serious strain on a dogs metabolism and immune system with nasty side effects sometimes resulting. These side effects include, but are not limited to, hair loss, skin itchiness at the site, vomiting and diarrhoea.

There are some cancers which are ideally suited to radiotherapy, given in a careful finite program.

Our Cancer Radiotherapy Support Program contains two products to use together. To boost immunity McDowell's Herbal consultants (almost always) recommend that dog owners use a powerful antioxidant - Maritime Pine Bark Extract in conjunction with their Radiotherapy Support Mix, for dogs with Cancer.

McDowell's Herbal Radiotherapy Support is developed to allow the Radiotherapy to do its work while minimising and counteracting potenial side effects. The general herbal support formulations assist the body to deal with the tissue damage and side effects of Radiotherapy. While the radiation works to destroy the cancer cells there can be some collateral damage to normal and healthy tissue cells. This protocol of herbs assists your dog to recover from this damage.

Maritime Pine Bark is a super antioxidant which helps to boost your dogs immunity and aid in the support of the cancers and radiotherapy. This specialist antioxidant is nearly 25 times more powerful than Vitamin C. We believe that the Maritime Pine Bark extract also supports the circulatory system and when used as directed it may help reduced stiffness and soreness in your dog.

We expect noticeable change and reduced symptoms in the first four to six weeks of having your dog on our program and ask that you submit regular reports to your McDowell's consultant.
