Migraine Dehydration Type - McDowell's Herbal Treatments

Most commonly found in children and involving habitually drinking insufficient fluid of any sort. Many such patients will go all day without drinking. It really doesn't occur to them to drink beyond the occasional sip to wet their mouth, just enough to take the feeling of thirst away.

This type of dehydration headache comes on in the afternoon and is the easiest to test for as a conscious effort to drink a full glass of water 3 or 4 times a day will make an immediate difference to the pattern.

Besides lecturing a dehydration migraine sufferer (or their parent) on fluid intake I prepare a standard sort of herbal mix including the herbs:- Rosehips, Dandelion, Liquorice, Nettle, and Sage as well as the Bach Flowers Vine, Clematis, Vervain, and Wild Oat.

This combination aims to assist the kidney function return to normal as well as address the balance of blood flow in a person who has systematically deprived their body of fluid over a long period.
