Dandruff is also known as seborrheic dermatitis, an inflammation of the upper layers of the skin causing scales on the face and scalp.
It can run in families and can become worse in cold weather. It begins slowly causing dry or greasy scalp, sometimes with itching but not hair loss. Newborns can experience a form known as cradle cap which results in a thick yellow crusted scalp.
Dandruff can be an emotionally based condition with sufferers very often simply reflecting their emotions on their skin or are uncomfortable within themselves and this reflects constantly on the state of their scalp and skin.
Due to dandruff often having a nervous system origin we need to include herbal nervines (nervous system herbs) to deal with skin problems in humans.
