Many adult males begin to experience difficulty in passing urine from middle age onward.
These difficulties include incomplete emptying, frequency of urges to urinate but not being able to pass much, or spraying urine as if it is coming out under pressure rather than a good strong stream.
All these problems arise because the prostate gland which encircles the urethra (the tube from the bladder to the penis) has become engorged and is strangulating the tube. This is very much the same thing as happens after ejaculation where this engorgement is a device to prevent urine passing after sex, so as not to compromise the sperm's viability.
A major part of prostate health is ensured by a regular sex life as the prostate, which provides the fluid ejaculate, benefits from regular emptying. It becomes one of those questions of "use it or lose it". If you dont use it, you also put yourself at a much higher risk of prostate cancer in older age.
Besides advising my prostate patients to do something about regular release, I prepare a herbal extract mix of the following herbs:- Saw Palmetto, Maritime Pine Bark, Elecampane, Celery, Juniper, Blue Flag, Phytolacca, Cleavers and Rosehips to promote urinary and bladder health and kidney function in general.
I also include the Bach Flowers Scleranthus, Wild Oat, Larch and Wild Rose to assist with some of the emotional factors which may be involved and I strongly suggest the regular use of Rosehips tea as the best all round adrenal, kidney and bladder tonic.
