There are different types of Hernia

Hiatal Hernia - a protusion of a portion of the stomach from its normal position in the abdomen throught the diaphragm.

This is described more fully under Stomach Treatments.

Umbilical Hernia - occurs in young babies. Years ago new babies were firmly swaddled to prevent any rupturing from the naval if they screamed. Its important not to allow a new born to scream to prevent such rupturing.

Strangulated Hernia - part of the bowel or digestive tract protudes through a tear and is held there. This can be cut off and cause blockages or even become gangrenous. This is an acute emergency.

Inguinal Hernia - The intestine pushes through a weakening in the abdominal wall into the inguinal canal. This causes a painless bulge in the groin or scrotum - it may enlarge when the man stands and reduce in size when he lies down as then the contents slide back into place.

Surgical repair in the form of a net is put in place to prevent it reoccurring depending on hernia size, discomfort and whether the blood supply is effected or not.

These hernias can occur after strenuous and heavy work . The herbs I put in the mix include Saw Palmetto, Oats, Elecampane, Horsetail and Yarrow along with the Bach Flowers Chestnut Bud, Oak and Olive.

It is wise to lie on a slant board twice daily for 30 minutes at a time to allow the pelvis and organs to return to the correct place.

On an energy level hernias can be indicative of a ruptured relationship, excessive life strains or burdens.
