There's some confusion about the difference between the different forms of oil derived from the cannabis plant. The two compounds that are often confused are CBD and THC. Cannabis is a plant that makes a substance full of compounds called cannabinoids. There are more than 100 of these chemicals in cannabis.
They have the same molecular structure and have many of the same medical benefits. There are very few side effects with either CBD or THC.
CBD - Cannabidiol
- Non-Psychoactive (doesn't get you 'high')
- Contain less than 0.3% THC
- Can be legally sourced from hemp or from marijuana plants
- Can help alleviate muscle/joint discomfort, anxiousness, stress, trouble sleeping
- Can increase energy
- Some studies show it helps with arthritis, Crohn's disease, diabetes and multiple sclerosis
- Can be an appetite inhibitor
- Now being used as treatment for several severe forms of rare childhood epilepsy
- It is available in a variety of forms. These include oils, gels, patches, supplements and gummies
THC - Tetrahydrocannabidiol (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol)
- Psychoactive (produces a sense of euphoria or a 'high')
- Derived from marijuana
- Can help nausea, glaucoma, anxiousness, stress, muscle/joint discomfort
- Appetite stimilator
- Parkinson's disease tremors
- Muscle spasticity
