Milo is doing so well. I have changed his entire diet. He is now on a natural diet and completely of his pellets. He has been on his white chaff like you recommended for nearly 5 weeks and I have slowly been removing all his pellets and his lucerne chaff. He has also started on flaxseed oil. He is also getting hay 3 times a day now.
He looks amazing, he is shining and so quiet. But most of all my husband and I have noticed (and it sounds crazy!), but it's almost like he has grown in height. I guess it must be due to him not having a sore tummy and he is standing up right now. As I said he has been on the the Equigesta-pre once a day now and the 60 drops the Colic Recovery.
I have also had his faecal tested for worms last week and it came back with zero worm and no treatment needed. So that was great news. I am also checking his gut sounds every couple of days now.
I am not sure what have caused the colic in the first place as there was 7 months between the attacks. But I did some research into his past life before he came to us and found he was fed nothing but hay. So, I guess it could have been the change in diet and all the pellets and lucerne chaff he was on when he came to me.
The vet said the first attack was an impaction and the second attack was a start of an impaction but it could have been from Sand Colic. But he is being feed of the ground for all of his meals, both hard feed and hay. I will definitely keep him on Equigesta-pre for the rest of his life and continue with the Colic Recovery drops for the next 5 weeks and always have a bottle on hand just in case. Fingers crossed we don't have another Colic episode.
