My mare is a 5 year old purebred arabian bred near Charters Towers in Qld whom I purchased as a 2 yr old.  She made the long trip to the Riverina and was broken in as a 4 year old then worked lightly until she spent 4 weeks with my dressage trainer earlier this year.  She is destined for a career as an endurance horse however with this injury we will now do some working equitation and dressage.  And down the track enter my breeding program.

I have attached some photos of her injuries she sustained in a round yard. I still have no idea how or what she got caught up on, nor does the vet.

You advised for her to go onto the Wounds Management Program which was started about a week after the initial injuries were sustained. The results are amazing. The photos above are the day of the injury, the photo below is about 3.5 weeks after initial injury and the bottom photo is 6 weeks after the initial injury.

Addi 3.5 weeks

The wound is almost fully healed however the last small amount of pink flesh is quite raised and hard (see photo below). Can you please advise the best course of action to have this continue to heal as best as possible where the wound site is as flat as possible without scarring and so that in the future her rugs and breastplate do not rub.

Addi 6 weeks

UPDATE:

I have been using the Skin Healing Cream for over a month now and the wound is almost fully healed and the scarring is minimal considering the wound size.
This cream along with other wonderful McDowells Herbal products will allow my mare to continue her ridden career without any long term issues.

Addi 3 Feb

Here is the wound on 3 Feb 2021. The results are simply amazing considering how much trauma there was to this area. She is back in light work too.
