My 26 year old mule Emmy has had problems with anxiety and fear. She startled easily and ran, often kicking out as she turned. In spite of my quiet ways and introducing things gradually, she didn't get any better. I didn't feel safe going about paddock chores. I could see her startle and run, but then realize too late that it was just me, her gentle caretaker.
Nothing seemed to diminish that first wild, exaggerated fear reaction, and I decided it could be physical. I started her on the Perform-A-Calm mix, and am impressed with the results. I love what it has done for us!
She may never be brave, but with the mix she is able to pay attention to what is actually happening, instead of what bad thing might happen. With better focus, she has been open to reconditioning as she was not before. Her first wild reactions are greatly reduced, and I have hopes of more good things to come.
Last week as I entered the corral, Emmy was lying down. She stayed down as I walked past about 8 feet away, something unimaginable earlier. I'm very grateful for such an effective, healthful product, healing her nerves instead of sedating her.
