Our story with Ellie isn't unique if you truly are a dog lover, animal lover, etc. Our pets are family and loved just as much as a child. What's unique is the extent at which one might go to care for them, within reason and finding someone, something that hopefully can make a difference. We will do anything, go anywhere, for our girl and if you are here reading this, you might agree.
Now, we found Kate and McDowells from searching, high and low for something that could help Ellie who, although 13, was spritely and youthful. You'd never guess 13! No one ever did. She was diagnosed with a cancer that presented as a tumor in her jaw quickly. We reacted equally fast and after hearing, to us, crazy remedies like cutting off her jaw, we knew we had to find another path if possible.
We opted for a unique process called electro-chemotherapy, which most still don't know. Its basically, a probe of 8 tiny super sharp needles that puncture the tumor after a chemo drug is administered. We also learned dogs tolerate chemo well, and Ellie did. It weakens the tumor, and makes it porous so the drug can do its job, shrink, kill, the tumor. Suffice it to say, it worked! After the 1st treatment, 70% was gone, 2nd treatment, all gone. Even the doctors were impressed. So many vets have no idea this exists.
Suffice it to say, we were so happy but knew besides additional steps we were taking, raw diet, etc we had to prevent it. After going over things with Kate and her team we came up with a regimen which i believe continued to save her life until she left us just shy of 17.
They made a custom herbal blend for her illness that kept the cancer at bay and despite being across the globe we were always able to update them and treat her over the years anxiously awaiting our overseas packages. Matter of fact, about 6 months after the tumor due to the soft and destroyed tissue in her jaw, she had to have a canine removed and told the dentist the story. He was equally amazed at it and sent some tissue to be tested to see if anything was still lurking.
Both the dentist and pathologist were baffled that, despite the tissue showing an aggressive cancer, it wasn't growing or spreading. Ellie never had an issue with it again. It might have been there but we believe McDowells herbal treatment prevented it from harming Ellie and for that, we are forever grateful!
As she got older, we also consulted for her hind quarters, kidney, old age, and again, with McDowells treatments, her later years were as healthy as possible. And, as instructed, we never took her off the cancer treatment.
