Local Bathurst business McDowells Herbal is a finalist in the prestigious 2018 Australian Online Retail Industry Awards.
Mcdowells Herbal is thrilled to announce that they are a finalist in the 'Best new online retailer' category of the Australia Post Online Retail Industry Awards.
To be eligible for the ‘best new online retailer' award your online shop must have been launched post January 2017 and demonstrate a sound, innovative and effective business strategy and a growing customer base. David Mansfield, a Director of McDowells, wasn't sure if they'd be in with a chance given they were so new.
"We have only had our online shop live since October last year, giving others a good 10 months jump on us. I wasn't sure if we were too new however thought it was worth a try."
The announcement of becoming a finalist comes as a great surprise and honour to both David and Co-Director Catherine Cox.
"We are so thrilled to make it as a finalist, with such big names out there in online retail it's such an honour to make it in such a large competitive Australian market." David said.
Catherine added. “Most online shops are city based and, in the fashion, cosmetics and lifestyle industries so to compete with them as a regional, alternative health business is incredible.”
McDowells Herbal has been around for more than 30yrs with many long-term and new customers supplying alternative health products for both human and animal clients. In October last year, they launched their online shop.
"Opening the online shop has enabled us to make it easier for our customers to search through over 1000 products to find the preparation they are looking for" Explains David. "It has been a fantastic journey, and we are thrilled to offer our customers this unique service."
While the introduction of the self-service online shop has been incredibly successful, it has not diminished the ongoing one-on-ones and personal consultations that are offered through McDowell's Herbal. Cath explains that personalised customer service is still a large part of McDowell's Herbal
"Customers can either give us a call, and we can help them over the phone, or they can fill out a confidential online consultation form and they can also book a private consultation with myself at our Bathurst office."
Cath also explains how the website is more than just a shop, that it is also a comprehensive hub of articles and information.
"We have over 500 educational articles on our website on both human and animals, covering a wide range of topics that we've dealt with over the years. It’s a place people can find lots of information about the symptoms or conditions they or their animal may be suffering from”.
McDowell's online shop is available 24/7, and the factory outlet is open 9am - 5 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays).
