"Man surprised me most about humanity. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money.
Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

The Dali Lama.....

What would it take to make your life better? All our lives better?

As I travel this road of contemplation, I am faced with the ever-increasing realisation that Humanity has been here before. Countless times.

I was in Byron Bay last week and attended a fascinating lecture given by Anthropological Researcher and Journalist Graham Hancock.

Graham Hancock – better known for his work in the 80's after writing a somewhat obscure book called "Finger Prints of the Gods", which became an overnight best seller.

One of the main themes running through many of his books is a posited global connection with a "mother culture" from which he believes all ancient historical civilizations sprang.

This lecture was absolutely fascinating, as he took us on a journey to ancient sites that are going to prove that there was in existence a global civilisation, culturally and technologically advanced that existed over 20,000 years ago.

This has enormous implications for our modern take on history, as we are taught so little about what is really only just beginning to be discovered in our world- about who we are, where we come from and where we are going.

It would seem that Humanity has arrived at this crossroads many times before, each time coming close to destroying the planet. Plato's Atlantis- the lost continent that was submerged after cataclysmic events.

Officially Plato's reference to Atlantis has always been considered a Utopian ideal, not a real place. This new evidence of coastlines and cites submerged challenges our current mythology. The truth is not always what we have been taught, and often stranger than fiction.

We have a choice- and we need to take the positive action of choosing kindness and sustainability. The path of partnership and harmony over the path of domination and power.

Philosophically, these ideas are often discussed as Love and Wisdom, Wisdom and Love in a dance of intimacy that can benefit all of the natural and man made world..

When we find the balance- we find health and we find joy. We find that we no longer want or need the trivial trappings of a so called "successful" life that values winning at all costs, and excessive consumption that places all on the planet at risk.

And surely this New Earth is possible... I see everyday the people that no longer want to be silent and accept what has always gone before.

They are turning off the TV, going outside and breathing the fresh air, embracing the dark gray violet and blue sky as it is charged with ozone from the impending thunderstorm.

Smell the rain as it crashes to the earth, and feel the electricity of nature charging up the atmosphere.
