Chicken pox is a common childhood disease, a virus called Herpes Zoster. It has an incubation period of 14-21 days and is highly contagious from fluids and lesions.
It is different to measles in that it starts from one particular place ie the scalp, mouth , hand or foot. It comes up as a red itchy blister and flares and spreads once scratched .
Chicken Pox effects the central nervous system , itching is the biggest problem, it is very difficult to stop children from scratching.
There are a number of ways to reduce the distress of the condition. Oatbran baths help alleviate the itching as does Chamomile tea or Hypericum Oil and Star of Bethlehem bathed on the skin.
My mix for recovery includes Maritime Pine Bark, Rosehips, White Willow, Yarrow and Hypericum along with the Bach Flowers Walnut and Olive.
