Blood cleansing and oxygenation problems - McDowell's Herbal Treatments

The circulatory system consists of three sets of vessels that run to all parts of your body, the arteries, the veins and the lymphatic system.

1. The arteries carry fresh oxygenated blood from the heart to feed all the cells of the body.

2. The veins pick up all the depleted blood that has exchanged its oxygen for the waste products of cell metabolism back through organs like the Kidneys, Liver and Spleen to clear out these waste products and return the purified blood to the heart.

3. The Lymphatic System picks up other waste products and toxins along with fluids that lead from cells and from blood vessels and returns this material to the Venus system so these fluids also may be purified.

Toxins can build up in the blood if any of the purification systems are overloaded or not working as they should; due to:

  • Illness, or to an excess of environmental toxins
  • Inherited inefficiencies
  • Too little oxygen in the blood that does not allow cells to function in a healthy manner
  • Not enough exercise
  • Bad habits that poison the blood and otherwise inhibit waste material removal

It is important to realise that toxins in the blood is a normal part of our metabolism and even the healthiest of us or a day old baby is producing toxins, the problems only arise when these materials are not being removed effectively.

Our kidneys and liver are enormously powerful systems and can cope with an enormous workload if only we treat them kindly. However our environment is increasingly toxic through man made products in the air and water and chemicals in our food and it are increasingly critical that we don't add to the load on these systems through bad habits or deliberate abuse as well.

Healthy kidneys need lots of healthy fluid taken into the body to assist in washing out toxins through the urinary system and one form of neglect is not drinking enough healthy fluid.

Relying on the water in coffee, tea or artificially coloured/flavoured drinks is kidney abuse.
So is drinking too much cows milk or fruit juice as the milk carries huge amounts of fat and the fruit juice too much acid.

Kidney abuse also is not drinking enough water or not drinking regularly through the day.

Ideally we should drink plenty of plain, clean filtered water and a variety of herbal teas that support the liver and kidneys throughout the day. Ideally our urination should be frequent and a good volume during the day and mostly clear in colour which shows we are drinking enough to make the load on our kidneys light. Dark coloured urine is a sign that we are not drinking enough healthy liquid and allowing too many toxins to build up in our bladder and not supporting our Kidneys well enough.

The toxins we take into our blood from food, drink and drugs or through hyperdermic needles directly affect our livers. Livers are also effected by the amount of fat in our diets for although fat and oils are valuable food substances like anything else too much of a particular substance can overload our systems. Too much milk and too much alcohol and too much meat can all overload the liver.

Emotions

Emotional factors, particularly fear, affects kidney function. More significantly, emotions like too much resentment or not facing up to and dealing with issues that upset us, are often the primary cause of liver problems. Liver conditions resulting from self abuse of this sort (as well as alcholism or drug abuse) is not permanently addressed through diet or supplements, as the underlying causes lie in the the emotions. This is why not everybody who eats well is healthy.
