I am 16 years old and I live on a beautiful property in Dorrigo NSW called Heartnut Farm where we are in the process of establishing our organic produce gardens, as well as equestrian clinic facilities and health retreat.
My passions include herbalism and horsemanship, making the McDowells products resonate greatly with what I think and do.
I firmly believe that nature holds everything in which we need to thrive and I apply this principle to my own health, the health of my horses and to the care of the land on which I live on.
Since discovering Mcdowells my horses have improved in health and performance dramatically.
I first encountered the McDowells products in 2018 when I participated in the McDowells Australian Brumby challenge. Mcdowells generously supported each horse/trainer combination with herbal supplementation to assist the horses’ physical transformation throughout the challenge.
My brumby colt, VBA Galway, won the yearling section’s greatest transformation prize, judged by Cath. He looked and clearly felt fantastic, holding that high stamina health glow that no quick fix product could ever produce. Starting Galway’s domesticated life supplementing the McDowells herbs means he has none of the now “standard” health complaints I manage everyday with the horses I have purchased with other health backgrounds.
He absorbs his food and the nutrients well, his coat is soft and his tail thick and full. He has no digestive or nervous system complaints, and his hooves are beautifully well formed and easily maintained with regular trimming. He is now a three-year-old and starting in hand classical movements to correctly use his body as well as sessions to engage and stimulate his clever mind.
The main McDowells products that have supported and nurtured Galway to this point are Equigesta-pre, Perform-A-Calm, Tendon and Bone, and chamomile flowers.
From a herbalism point of view, McDowells has done an admirable job in formulating the products for effectiveness. Medicinal herbs have incredible healing energetics on their own, but by combining different herbs in specific quantities one can enhance the active actions greatly.
One simple example of this can be seen in the product Equitone-forte with the combination of turmeric and black pepper. Turmeric has amazing anti-inflammatory, immune boosting and anticoagulant effects making it a great herb for mobility issues, arthritis and injury recovery. Paired with black pepper though, studies have shown that the active healing compounds in turmeric are made more bioavailable to the body by up to 2000%!
My feed shed smells gloriously of chamomile flowers and apple cider vinegar tonics and every one of my horses has had at least one Mcdowells Herbal product turn around their health for the better.
