Who doesn't love a rainbow?! - McDowell's Herbal Treatments

Our 17 year old pony, Rainbow, has had an ongoing lameness in off side hind leg. I have been treating her with Alleviate (she does get relief) and Tendon and Bone and I also 4 cyte.

I have had 5 vets look at her with 5 different diagnosis (from torn muscle, tendon ?). I had vets from wagga wagga equine x-ray her without any diffinitive diagnosis. They have been talking about dislocated hip joint or maybe cracked pelvis. She certainly has an occasional cracking noise when walking, she can weight bare but its painful & sometimes will hold the leg up when standing.

I had local equine physio treat her (she thought it was her pelvis.) There is an operation ($4000+) but they couldn't tell me if they knew what it is or positive outcome & long recovery.

I tried keeping her in small area with no real positive outcome and she can get around slowly in paddock. She is eating and happy enough in her outlook & surroundings. We were very upset because the vets said she should be put down. We would be happy for her to be retired & happy paddock girl, but we dont want to have her put down.

So we stuck with treating Rainbow and she is improving, albeit very slowly. Still lameness & stiffness in her hind leg but definitely improved. I have her out with other horses in paddock now which I think has made her happier.

Thank you so much for your advice & support with health of our pets.

Regards, Cassie
